About Me

Hello!  I am Coach Mark Martin.  I teach Computer Science at Oneida High School, and I am an assistant football coach.  Details for my classes, including lecture notes, will be found in the course's associated Google Classroom.  I'll include the outline for the course below, as well as my contact information if you have any questions.

Computer Science Foundations

Computer Science Foundations focuses on the science of computation.  The course has two main themes.  First, we explore career opportunities in information technology.  This portion of the course surveys the jobs that are available, the key skills needed for those jobs, the salary ranges for those jobs, and the typical job environments for those jobs.

The second theme of the course is Computational Thinking.  Computational Thinking, or CT, is comprised of a series of problem solving techniques that are often used by computer scientists, and ultimately computational machines, to solve problems.  In Computer Science Foundations, we practice CT in many different ways including logic puzzles, math problems, and programming challenges.

The course is broken down into four sections.

  1. Introduction

    1. Career Exploration

    2. Electronics and Basic Digital Theory

    3. Operating Systems

  2. Emerging Technologies and Social, Legal, and Ethical Concerns in a Digital Society
