April has been a busy month for the Oneida Indians Athletic Department with a multitude of games. Our spring sports are currently beginning to wrap up their regular seasons and looking forward to postseason play in May. Let’s take a look at how each team has done!

OMS Baseball

The Indians are absolutely tearing apart their opposition this season, running off an undefeated regular season at 14-0! The Indians have tossed SIX no-hitters and have outscored their opposition 192-22 on the year! The Section 2 Area 6 Postseason Tournament begins on Thursday at Bear Creek Sports Complex and will run through Tuesday, May 2nd as the Indians have earned the #1 seed. Good luck to them as they look to continue their incredible run!

OMS Softball

The Lady Indians just celebrated 8th Grade Night on Tuesday as they faced Oliver Springs. It has been a season of improvement on the field for the Lady Indians as each game the ladies are seeing strides. Watch for the OMS Lady Indians finish out their season strong and look to make a big leap next season on the diamond.

OMS Soccer

The Middle School Indians continue to have great success on the pitch this season. Oneida currently sits at 7-1 on the year entering their postseason play this weekend. The 3-2 win over Cumberland Gap on April 13th put the Indians in prime position to have a great run in their respective postseason tournament. Coach David Blevins sees high aspirations for his team and their goals are very achievable this season!

OHS Baseball

The Indians currently sit at 10-9 on the year after going .500 in the month of April with a 5-5 record. With wins over Oliver Springs, Oakdale, Bell County, and a pair over Sunbright, the Indians have three more regular season contests on the schedule before entering District 3-A postseason play, including one game at home on Monday, May 1st against Greenback. Come out and cheer the Indians on to victory!

OHS Softball

A big 17-16 win at Harriman was followed with a 10-9 win at home over McCreary County before earning a 28-13 win on the road at Sunbright. The ladies continue to show improvement and beginning to find a rhythm as the month comes to

a close. Five more home games are on the schedule at Bear Creek so come out and support the ladies!

OHS Soccer

The Indians’ soccer team is simply overpowering their competition this season, having an amazing month of April where they went 7-0-1 with the lone draw coming against Class 3A Knox Central. They have outscored their opposition 34-6 in April and have improved their overall record to 11-2-1 on the year. Two road games at Scott High and Halls will round out their regular season before they host the District 3-A Tournament at Jane Terry Hoffman Field. Good luck to the orange and white!

Band

The OHS Pride of the Tribe Band has had an eventful month with a number of performances as well as individuals having specific event performances as well. Ryan Day, Bo Chamberlain, Philip Thompson, and Gabe Botts represented OHS as they performed with the UT Pride of the Southland Band at the annual Orange and White game. At Concert Festival, the band scored straight 1’s and earned an overall Superior Rating, the highest rating possible. The band also scored a 95 from one individual judge.
